From May through September, the stretch of Santana Row between Olin Avenue and Olsen Drive filled with produce stands every Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Shoppers parked for free in the nearby garages and stopped for dinner on the way home. This year's market opened on Wednesday, May 6, with P&K Farms selling vine-ripened strawberries, Triple Delight selling blueberries, and Groundswell Farm selling CCOF-certified organic produce. Food came from Roli Roti, Oaxacan Kitchen, Zaida's Oaxacan Cafe, YY Noodle and Little Sky Bakery.
The last market of the season was Wednesday, September 30. On its own page, the California Farmers' Markets Association called that day a celebration of 10 years at Santana Row.
That has left more than a month without the Wednesday stop, and through winter the gap is less about where to shop than about when. Almost every year-round market near West San Jose runs in the morning. The after-work slot that made Santana Row easy is mostly gone until spring, with one afternoon exception just down Saratoga Avenue.
The Operator's Own Winter Map
Before the final market, the association posted a note to its regulars:
"This winter, visit your favorite vendors at these local year-round markets."
The markets it listed were Saratoga, Westfield Oakridge, Los Gatos and Mountain View. All four run on weekend mornings. The association that runs Santana Row's Wednesday evenings sends its winter shoppers to Saturdays and Sundays.
The Santa Clara County Division of Agriculture's 2026 market directory shows the same pattern. In the county's list of certified markets, every year-round option within a reasonable drive of West San Jose except Prince of Peace opens between 8 and 9 a.m., and most close by 1 p.m.
A West San Jose Market Week, November Through Winter
Here is the week laid out by day, using the county's 2026 listings and the operators' pages. The county directory still showed Santana Row's season ending September 24. The operator's own posts put the last market on September 30, so the operator's date is the one used here.

Santana Row offered four evening hours on a weekday. Among the year-round weekday markets in the county directory, Prince of Peace on Wednesday afternoon is the only one open past 2 p.m.
The One Weekday Holdout at Saratoga and Cox
For anyone who planned around Wednesday, the closest substitute is the Saratoga Prince of Peace Certified Farmers' Market. It sits at 12770 Saratoga Avenue at Cox Avenue, straight down the same road many West San Jose households already use. The county lists it as year-round on Wednesdays from 2 to 6 p.m., run by the All Bay Farmers' Market Association. The California Department of Food and Agriculture's list of certified markets, dated October 1, 2026, also includes it.
Its 6 p.m. close is the latest of any year-round weekday market in the county list for this part of the valley. That makes it the only one a commuter might reach after an early finish.
The vendor lineup is the part to confirm before you go. P&K Farms' own schedule listed a stall at "Saratoga Prince of Peace Church Farmers Market" from 2 to 6 p.m. with an end date of December 17, 2025. The market itself stays open year-round, but individual farms may come and go as the season turns. The market's Facebook page is the place to check who is there this winter.
Valley Medical Center's market on South Bascom Avenue also runs on Wednesdays, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It fits a midweek errand on that side of the neighborhood, as long as your schedule allows a morning stop.
Saturday at West Valley College Carries the Most Weight
The Saratoga Farmers' Market at West Valley College gets the most out of the shift to weekends. The California Farmers' Markets Association runs it, the same operator that runs Santana Row. It is open year-round on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Parking Lot 3, at Fruitvale Avenue and Career Way.
The association counts more than 50 farmers and vendors there, selling seasonal fruits and vegetables along with Asian vegetables, honey, mushrooms, eggs and prepared foods. That is more vendors than its Los Gatos Sunday market, which the association lists at more than 40.
It is also where at least one Santana Row farm shows up in winter. P&K Farms lists the Saratoga Farmers Market and the Los Gatos Farmers Market as year-round stops, both from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Its Santana Row stall is marked as seasonal, May through September. So the strawberry stand from the Row's opening day has a Saturday address in Saratoga and a Sunday address on Montebello Way in Los Gatos.
For other Santana Row regulars, follow the operator's own advice and check Saratoga, Oakridge, Los Gatos and Mountain View, the four markets it named when the season closed.
Sunday Splits Between Downtown Campbell and the College Lots
On Sunday, households near the Campbell border have a short drive to the Campbell Farmers' Market. The Urban Village Farmers' Market Association runs it on East Campbell Avenue between Central Avenue and 3rd Street, every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., year-round, rain or shine. The City of Campbell's event listing describes vendors selling produce, packaged goods, prepared foods and local artisan goods.
Because it sits on a downtown street, it shuts down for big city events. Its 2026 calendar shows closures on May 17 for the Boogie Music Festival and October 18 for Oktoberfest.
Households near the Cupertino line have the De Anza Farmers Market at De Anza College, 21250 Stevens Creek Boulevard. It runs year-round on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Stevens Creek Boulevard links both De Anza and the Valley Fair end of the neighborhood, so it works as an easy Sunday loop for anyone on the north side.
What Fills the Tables Between Now and January
The produce changes along with the schedule. The California Farmers' Markets Association describes the order this way:
- Fall: persimmons, pomegranates, apples, pears and winter squash
- Winter: Cara Cara oranges, Kishu mandarins, sweet limes and tangerines, plus hearty greens and root vegetables such as carrots, beets and turnips
- Spring, when Santana Row's season would normally return: cherries, artichokes, green garlic, snap and English peas, spring onions and strawberries
So November tables are mostly persimmons and winter squash. By December, citrus takes over. Most of the winter citrus season happens while Santana Row is closed, so shoppers who only visited the Row on Wednesdays may never have seen the Kishu mandarins.
Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Weekends
This year, Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 26, and both Christmas and New Year's Day fall on Fridays. Here is what's known so far for the markets in the table above:
- Campbell and Willow Glen, the Urban Village markets: The association says all of its Saturday and Sunday markets stay open on the weekends of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's, though some vendors may take the day off.
- Friday markets in Cupertino and Santa Clara: Creekside and Kaiser Santa Clara both meet on Fridays, and Christmas Day and New Year's Day are both Fridays this year. Check each market's page before heading out on December 25 or January 1.
- Saratoga, Los Gatos and Oakridge, the California Farmers' Markets Association markets: For Saturday, December 26, and the first weekend of January, check the association's market pages before you go.
Where Market Day Fits Your Next Move
Which market you use often depends on which part of West San Jose you live in. Near Saratoga and Cox, the Wednesday afternoon stop is a few minutes away. Near Stevens Creek, De Anza on Sunday is the shorter drive. On the Campbell side, East Campbell Avenue is close by.
